A Walk in Phoenix

My twin sister and I had so much fun in Phoenix that I went a little wild in printing photos! Here are a couple of photos of us on our walk around downtown Phoenix--it was really near our hotel, in fact! I used Sketch Inspiration's Sketch #237 to make this layout for The Paper Variety's My Favorite Embellishment challenge! I think you can tell that I chose buttons! I think there are 20 buttons on this one! I don't know if buttons are my favorite because I hate to leave the other embellishments out...but I do use them a lot and love them!!!!

Thanks for visiting! I hope you have a great week!

If you are anywhere near St. Charles, Missouri, this weekend, come out and see us at MOSAICS--(Missouri Festival For the Arts)! I understand there will be over 100 juried artists there!!!

Heard Museum - Phoenix

I decided to do the monochromatic challenge at The Paper Variety.  Since I was keeping it simple, I thought "what the heck, just go with as many photos as you can." So, even though this is as simple as it gets, I got 7 photos scrapped! Yay! And, I chose my favorite color:  green!

Thanks for visiting!

Cacti in Scallops and a prayer request

Here's another multi-photo, "getter done" layout! It certainly fits Scrapfit's Weekend Warm-Up # 12 to use scallops. I tell you, I printed even more pictures from the Phoenix trip I made with my twin. So, I had to resort to 9 photos on this page! It gives a general idea how many strange, quirky plants were at the Desert Botanical Gardens. My son hates this layout, but I say "it's another one finished." not that it's a chore, but...

Now, I hope you don't mind if I get very personal. I have a niece who has lupus (like me) and is having a hard time of it right now. It is looking like she is having some organ involvement with it--I'm hoping nothing too serious. She is in her first semester of college, too, and she is going to a difficult school. So, if you could add her to your prayer list, I'd sure appreciate it!!!

Thanks for visiting!

Ocean Dreams (Coffee Filter flowers) - and I'm FAMOUS

I made this layout for Fiskars and CK challenges. I used a Fiskars scallop punch on a spray misted coffee filter on all three different types of flowers that I made. The top one has a Sizzix flower base, but the rest have 4-6 Fiskars scallops. Gosh, I must have used at least 3 or 4 different mist colors to kind of look like the sand and the ocean. I also cut my coffee filter letters on the Sizzix. It is hard to see, but I also used the Fiskars Washed Ashore border punch on this.

Now, why am I famous, you ask? Well, I was thrilled yesterday to get a surprise package from Fiskars. What did it contain? A new border punch which I helped name! It is called Falling for You. This particular punch is so great–-our family so loves trees and leaves–with the hubby being into wood-turning. I couldn't be more excited!

A Card - CTMH

Finally, a craft! I joined up with CTMH (again) just so I could buy some albums. My piles of scrapbook pages have been building up!!! So, here is a card I made with a couple of ladies who ordered a few things from me!

I'm cleaning up my craft room. I only have one section left and it is the hard stuff-miscellaneous bits and pieces! I want to organize them so that I know where everything is!! That is really hard for me even though I am a librarian!!!!

Have a great day! Thanks for visiting! It makes my day when you leave a comment!!! :-)

Easter - 1998

I made this for Sketchy Thursday's latest challenge!  I used the right half of the sketch!  I also entered this at Sketches 4 All.  One girl challenged us to use at least 5 patterned papers, 5 different fonts and 5 buttons! I couldn't believe that I could do it, but I did.  Another suggested using only pink, green, and white (with a little neutral thrown in).  She also asked for 2 chipboard elements and 2 rub-ons. I did that, too!

Card for The Paper Variety

This card is for The Paper Variety's Tic Tac Toe !! :) challenge this week.

I chose the right column. The stamped image is from Hero Arts; it's a card, and I used a scallop punch and a scallop border punch... I must not be in the crafting mojo still, but I wanted to participate, so...

Reading

I made this a while ago, but I just hadn't posted it to the blog yet.  It is mostly Crate Paper. My son and his girlfriend were reading to our nephew (Mitch's cousin)! He just loved it!! I was pretty happy with this layout. I'm not sure why I hadn't posted it yet. I got WAY TOO involved with a huge sketch-a-thon last month, and I think I'm still worn out from it! I hope you enjoy!

Just to let you know, every time I receive a happy comment it makes me smile!

San Francisco - Cliff House 2009

I made this layout for Artful Delight's sketch challenge #1! All is Crate Paper except the letters which are American Crafts Thickers! Head over quickly if you want to participate in the challenge! Leanne gives wonderful prizes, and she has free shipping in her shop in October! She has some great kits and things that are unique to her shop.

Halloween Card

This card is really simple. What I like about it is the Krylon webbing spray  on the middle background paper! I got the stamp from a friend at Sketches 4 All and the sketch came from there, too! I'm entering it into the Simon Says challenge to make a Halloween Card.

Raking Leaves - 1995

I used a sketch from Sketches 4 All to make this layout. I think it meets the current Simon Says Challenge, but I saw mostly cards there and have never entered a challenge there.

Raking Leaves - 2002 - take 2

My friend Stacy HW sent me this beautiful Scenic Route paper, and I just had to use it immediately!! I used Sketch 142 from Sketch Inspiration and am entering it in The Paper Variety's Challenge 2.  It had to have Autumn colors, a movie title (believe it or not there is a movie called Autumn Leaves), and borders.  I used a border punch from Martha Stewart on the green paper (punch also from Stacy HW) and a Fiskars punch on the leaf paper! There is some orange twine around each pop-dotted leaf which were cut with my Sizzix.  The word "LEAVES" was made with kraft paper which was inked a bunch and misted with a home-made shimmery mist! Abby, co-founder of The Paper Variety, sent me the "Autumn" sticker from W R Memory Keepers, Maple Grove line.  I love this line and used it on a layout earlier this month!  This also met the design element to include falling leaves over at Design Dollies this week.  I think this is the first page I have done in a long time that wasn't for Sketches 4 All.  I'm sure I'll get right back into doing some for them sometime this weekend!

My Twin Sister and Her Family's Pets

Since we can't have any more pets due to allergies (I can't even have a Bichon Frise), the boys really enjoyed playing with SOME of Karen's families pets:  their two little yellow and white kittens and their chocolate lab mix puppy (who is a LOT bigger now).  They also have a gray and black tabby, a bird and a rooster.  I believe they've added some baby chicks now.  I made this layout for the Practical Scrappers challenge this week to use border punches or deco scissors.  I made the blocks for the title and date with my deckle edge deco scissors.  For some reason, I had it in my head that the challenge wanted any type of punches so I used my square punch and my medium scallop punch to make blocks for my very old Debbie Mumm stash of doggie and kitten stickers! Oh, well! My memory isn't what it used to be! It works!

Just Walking -- 1995

Today's challenge was to use buttons on a layout. Finally, I was inspired to do a scrapbook layout--my passion!!! Hope you enjoy!

CPS 157 - Moxie Fab's Tuesday Trigger - Lovely on Green - Stamp Something

I was inspired by Moxie Fab World's Tuesday Trigger : Lovely on Green to create the card for CPS's Sketch 157 and vice versa.  I loved the gingham on the chairs on the Moxie blog.  It made me think more of St. Patrick's Day than anything else (probably because it is coming up soon).  I also thought it would go perfectly with CPS's challenge this week and Stamp Something's challenge.  I normally don't combine challenges, but this one seemed to fit.   Hope you enjoy it!
