Hiking to Big Red

I made this layout for The Paper Variety's make your own flower challenge.  I loved this Amy Tangerine American Crafts map sheet. I have had this glass/metal focus on what is in this circle thingy for ages. I thought it would be cool to highlight the area we were travelling on the map.  I made the box fold flower for the challenge.  I was really excited recently to win some MME adventure brads. I hoarded them for a few seconds but decided to use them on this because I just love them SOOOOOOOOOOOOO much. I also used a little Mr. Huey Color Mist by dropping it on the page a few places.  Finally, I added these cool little Basic Grey letters. The gray pennant was made with the Chaps line from American Crafts. I thought it was cool that I got 7 photos on this layout even if they were small photos.

As you can see, we took the trip in 2010.  I'm so behind in scrapping...

I hope you have a great day!!!!!

Steve's Work May be Featured in Haylee's Treasure -- but only if the author can raise the money to publish it

Dymalux Americana Kaleidoscope

How many of you would like to be a part of history???? Well, the history of the making of a book anyway...  A very sweet lady contacted my husband, Steve, a while back about the idea of featuring one of his kaleidoscopes in a book she wrote about a girl who goes to the Upper Peninsula in Michigan to visit her grandparents. There she finds all kinds of interesting things/treasures, including a kaleidoscope!  Anyway, this nice lady has run into some funding issues.  She needs to raise $5,100 in a hurry in order to have her wonderful book published! I know it is wonderful because I had the opportunity to read it in a draft form!! I sure hope it gets published.  If you donate $75, you will help her and also receive one of Steve's mini kaleidoscopes!  They are so much fun!!!  She will take donations in smaller amounts, of course, even $1!

Thanks!

Holland, Michigan-Statues (Summer 2010)

I made this layout for the Moxie Fab World Challenge: The Appearance of Cameos.  Most people enter cards for these challenges, but I can't help but see what I can do on a layout!  I still have so many photos left to scrapbook from our June, 2010 trip to Michigan this summer! We are buried under 18" (with mountains of snow piles in the yard)! So, the summery colors made me happy! Of course, the silhouette cameo goes really well with all of the statues!!  The cameo and frame are from Glitz Designs! The papers are from My Mind's Eye! And, of course, the letters are Thickers!

What's in a Name--Kelly (at Meijer Gardens)

I made this for Shannon's (one of the DT member) challenges during Scrapbook Challenge's blog hop! You were to make a layout about a name!  I chose to use some photos of myself from our Michigan trip.  This one was at Meijer Gardens!  I give a little detail about my name--what it means and why I was named Kelly!  I'm also entering into Valerie's challenge to use what you have for Sketches for You/All.  I used some several year old CTMH Let's Get Together paper, ribbons, buttons and spirals that I was hoarding saving for the perfect photos!

I was the RANDOM winner of the prize of flowers for this challenge! Yay! I was excited!

Saugatuck Dunes, Michigan through the Forest

I made this for a new to me challenge site called:  the Scraproom!  It is for their Week #35 Weekly Challenge!

Much of this layout came from the Discovery kit over at Scrapbooking from the Inside Out! I just love their kits!!!!!

Love Birds in Holland, Michigan

I created this using a sketch from Scrapbook Challenges.  They are having a blog hop this weekend and this sketch is part of it!!! You can click on the link: http://scrapbookchallenges.ning.com to participate!  The blog hop starts at Pamela's blog:  (http://www.pamelasworldofscrap.blogspot.com/).  I'm creating this post to be part of theHop On board to view members' blogs here:  (http://scrapbookchallenges.ning.com/forum/topics/seasons-of-change-...).  Join in and have some fun! There are some amazing prizes to be won, including Cosmo Cricket's Pixie-Licious, which I've used in my layout!  The box flowers are so easy, and I got the instructions from Cosmo Cricket!

Steve Working while we were on Vacation!

I did this layout for a tone-on-tone challenge and a use a stamp as your title challenge at Sketches for You!! All of the jewels are white but some of them appear to be pink on the photo... Don't know why... Also entered in Scrap Our Stash!

South Haven, Michigan

I used Sketchy Thursday's sketch this week to create this layout! I'm entering it in The Studio to DIY (the pinwheel) and Stacy's weekly challenge over at Sketches for You.  By the way, I'm thrilled to be the guest designer over at Sketches for You for September. I'll be issuing a challenge with a small RAK over there.  I hope you will join me.  I'll post about it here on the blog, too!  I was lucky enough to win some SRM Stickers which is what you see right under the photo!

Meijer Gardens - Textures and Colors

I made this layout from a sketch by Sassy Lil’ Sketches. Every single one of the rectangles are textured with the exception of the darker yellow which is from a Prima tablet I received from a friend. I had all of these tiny photos of some of Chihuly's sculptures as well as some orchids from the gardens when we visited this June. I thought the sketch was perfect for these photos! If you follow my blog at all, you are probably wondering: "Just how many photos did this girl take at the gardens?" Well, too many I suppose! I'm still not finished scrapbooking them!

St Joseph, Michigan -- beach on a foggy day

I created this for this week's TRIFECTA at Design Dollies! I can't believe I did it again!! I used Rock Candy Stickles on the Sun and the waves! The background paper is TEAL and I accented with Royal Blue. My teal is a little darker than what some of the DT used, but... it's still teal...I'm still working on the light box for my LOs! It seems there is a shadow at the top of the page, making it look darker than what it really is!

Grand Rapids -- Meijer Gardens with Chihuly - Lilies etc.

I was pretty excited at how this turned out! I love the Autumn Leaves cutout (green, left rectangle). I had the flower--had been hoarding it--believe it was Martha Stewart. And, doesn't the embossed Core'dinations paper go well with this theme also--you might have to click on the picture to make it larger? The Flair worked out pretty well. The base was Crate Paper-Mia. Oh, and the rub-on for the year 2010 was American Crafts. Pretty simple, but I really like it! It's so much prettier in real life--the textures are important and you just can't see it here!

I created this for Pages in Time Thursday Sketch Week July 15.

Grand Haven, Michigan

Well, after trying several pictures and several papers/embellishments etc., I finally found what I wanted to do for this great sketch by Liz Qualman for Sweet Peach Crop Shop's monthly challenge.  They would prefer that we use their kits, but I didn't have one.  The sketch was just too good to pass up!  AND, it was after I received Scrapbooking from the Inside Out's Courage kit that I found the exact papers I wanted to use!! No, my layout is not about courage, but I was able to find some great scrapbooking inspiration when I opened the kit (which is therapy to me)!!!

Here is the sketch:

Grand Rapids -- Meijer Gardens with Chihuly

I made this for the Pages in Time Thur Sketch of the Week July 8. It fits Blue Moon and pearl July challenge at PIT.

I did hand-make the blue flower to resemble the Chihuly in the top photo. I also used some hand-made shimmery mist on the circles and Chihuly label... It's a lot prettier in real life. Wish the photo could show the shimmer and the glitter I used on the Chihuly letters, butterfly and flower!

Unleashed

I made this for Practical Scrappers Friday Sketch. I'm a little late on this since they've already posted the next Friday sketch, but I think I had to the end of the month to finish! I think it fits Andrea's color challenge for July over at PIT also.  It fits Blue Moon, too!
