I Left My Heart in San Francisco

I made this for Frosted Design's Songs of Our Life **Song Lyric Challenge** and Sketches in Thyme Challenge 7 sketch!  Obviously, I used "I left my heart in San Francisco" as the song! :-)

My Niece Julie and Her Boyfriend Eric

I did this for the Pages in Time Thur Sketch of the Week July 22.  I used some of the things my Fiskateers Secret Sister sent me! What fun!  When I first saw the sketch, I was a little intimidated by it, but I thought by adding the different textures with the Magic Mesh and funky wired ribbon, etc., that it worked out ok!
I'm also going to enter it to, a new challenge site I just found recently!

Stuart's 4th Birthday - 2010

7/28/2010:  I felt like something was missing here. So, I added some mist and stamping on the yellow background! I don't know if it's better or worse, but I can't change it now!

I made this layout of my nephew (on my husband's side) Stuart's 4th Birthday using Sketch #134 from Sketch Inspiration!  I used the new Birthday Bash collection from Imaginisce. I also used the new I-Rock tool--first time so I didn't go too crazy with it! Green paper with dots is DCWV, green ribbon with dots is American Crafts. I don't know who made the yellow scalloped paper!

I made this for Practical Scrappers Sketch Friday for the July 23 week.   I added some brads to enter it into Stacy's challenge at Sketches 4 All.

1999 Steve's first trip to the Ocean - Take 2

7/25/2010 I changed it a little:

This is for Practical Scrappers monthly challenge for July. The challenge was to use something real from the beach. I chose to add a few shells (two around the beautiful flower found in my Courage kit) to serve kind of as leaves and three more on the other side between the two pictures! I'm surprised I hadn't scrapped these pictures before, but I think it is because this was "real" film and the exposure wasn't very good. Anyway, I was glad I had them for the challenge.  The patterned paper is old--2007 Flair Designs (I won it earlier this year in a Scrapfit blog hop--pretty close to when I first opened my blog.) I also found a new site called The Latte Lounge-and this fit the challenge--so I shared it there also!

Pinwheel Card

I was really excited that my card was one of the cards Paige picked to display on Cards Magazine's blog today! Our challenge was to use pinwheel/s on a card! I don't submit very often, because I'm not that confident about my work, but I'm glad I did this week!! :-)

Grand Rapids -- Meijer Gardens with Chihuly - Lilies etc.

I was pretty excited at how this turned out! I love the Autumn Leaves cutout (green, left rectangle). I had the flower--had been hoarding it--believe it was Martha Stewart. And, doesn't the embossed Core'dinations paper go well with this theme also--you might have to click on the picture to make it larger? The Flair worked out pretty well. The base was Crate Paper-Mia. Oh, and the rub-on for the year 2010 was American Crafts. Pretty simple, but I really like it! It's so much prettier in real life--the textures are important and you just can't see it here!

I created this for Pages in Time Thursday Sketch Week July 15.

Grand Haven, Michigan

Well, after trying several pictures and several papers/embellishments etc., I finally found what I wanted to do for this great sketch by Liz Qualman for Sweet Peach Crop Shop's monthly challenge.  They would prefer that we use their kits, but I didn't have one.  The sketch was just too good to pass up!  AND, it was after I received Scrapbooking from the Inside Out's Courage kit that I found the exact papers I wanted to use!! No, my layout is not about courage, but I was able to find some great scrapbooking inspiration when I opened the kit (which is therapy to me)!!!

Here is the sketch:

Memphis Zoo -- Polar Bears

Well, my photography is crooked again. Only 1 in 50 turn out straight! You get the idea anyway, right??

I made this page for a challenge on Sketches 4 All/You. It is for Stacy H W's weekly challenge. This week's challenge was to use bling and make a monochromatic blue layout! Stacy gives out really nice RAKs for the challenge. I recommend that you check out Sketches 4 All/You because they have a lot of fun challenges!

BTW, have you forgotten about the Blue challenge over at Blue Moon Scrapbooking? There's still time! Check it out if you feel like doing a blue challenge!

My twin sister and me around 1965

I made this layout of my twin sister and me around 1965. I made it for Frosted Designs challenge to use  border punches. I'm also entering it in Noel Mignon's challenge to use NO  patterned paper!

School Play -- Evening of Drama

My son and his girlfriend in the school play. Mitch had 2 roles: a detective (shown here) and a creepy janitor (that's why he's holding the mop even though in his "detective" costume). He played both so well. His girlfriend played a "zombie"--in the top left picture her eyes were rolled back in her head--what they won't do to "act" it out perfectly!!!

I made this for Sketch Inspiration's #132. I forgot to post it here until now. The challenge is over, but they offer great prizes for their weekly challenge.

3 generations (the young girl is my twin sister's daughter)

I made this because of a CK prompt.  I like the banner (some of which has Tim Holtz Rock Candy) and the hand-made rose (which also has Rock Candy). I just bought the Rock Candy (at and it is a lot of fun! It comes out of the bottle really fast and doesn't look like much UNTIL it dries--then it looks a little sugary. The patterned paper is Glitz Designs (dark blue and the banner).

Chihuly again

This layout was created from a Practical Scrappers sketch Friday! I had fun splattering Ranger ink all over this one! My fingers were inky on Monday when I created it!!! :-)  I made it to go along with Stacy H-W's Weekly Stash Challenge for July 12.

White Embossed Scallop with Green Glittered Flower

Just a small note:  the white scallop was made with a Spellbinders die and is a beautiful embossed paper! The green glittered flower is cut from a Sizzix die and is Doodlebug. I pop-dotted each layer.
I made this for the Etsy Inspired Challenge to use an item from the vintage chic shop Octavia & Brown.  Here is my inspiration piece:

Set of 3- Vintage Milk Glass Lace Compotes

Memphis Rocks

It's hard to see it here, but the red paper is embossed with tiny roses.  Just a note:  The cool black and white paper is from Paper Trunk! Their paper is made in the U.S. and is very high quality!! Check them out!

I made this for Red, Hot and Blue challenge. The Blog Candy is from their July sponsor, Ann Lenth, an Independant Memory Works Consultant.  Cool, huh?

Meijer Gardens Falls with Chihuly

I was pretty pleased with how this turned out! This was for Frosted Designs challenge to use felt. I used the Sketches in Thyme sketch Challenge 5 for this week! It's funny how often these two challenge sites go together so well! Thanks so much for giving me some fun inspiration to scrap my recent vacation pictures!!!!

Updated 7/15/2010:  I made Top 3 at Frosted Designs for this one! I was so happy to see that someone (besides me) enjoyed my work!

Grand Rapids -- Meijer Gardens with Chihuly

I made this for the Pages in Time Thur Sketch of the Week July 8. It fits Blue Moon and pearl July challenge at PIT.

I did hand-make the blue flower to resemble the Chihuly in the top photo. I also used some hand-made shimmery mist on the circles and Chihuly label... It's a lot prettier in real life. Wish the photo could show the shimmer and the glitter I used on the Chihuly letters, butterfly and flower!

Saturday, July 10, 2010

I made this for Practical Scrappers Friday Sketch. I'm a little late on this since they've already posted the next Friday sketch, but I think I had to the end of the month to finish! I think it fits Andrea's color challenge for July over at PIT also.  It fits Blue Moon, too!

Mitch and his New Jeep (either 1997 or 1998)

I made this for Scrap and Stamp's challenge to use the color red and at least one stamp. You can easily see the red but the stamp says: come out and play and the little exhaust from the car is also a stamp!  I love going back and doing some of my older pictures of my son! I started scrapbooking when he was five and go back every once in a while and do a few of the older pages. It seems like there are always newer pictures that need to be scrapbooked--though the older ones are a lot of fun!!!!

First Layout from our Michigan Vacation from this year

I hand-made the red flower in the bottom. The buttons are vintage! I entered this at Blue Moon and at Pages in Time for the Go Green monthly challenge.

Julie and Her Kittens

Hey, wouldn't you like to scrap-lift this layout to win a prize from Jessica Stott at Lucky Girl Crafts? Go to The XOXO challenge site and choose a LO or two to scrap-lift and you just might win the an awesome kit from Jessica.  Your layouts are due by July 31, 2010.  Don't forget to come back after the contest to vote!  However, *Voting from now on will go a little differently. We will still post a poll on the 1st of every month with the scraplift creations posted for the public to vote on. However, the Lipstick Chicks will be having our own little voting party privately and will get the final say. The winner of the public voting IF different from who the Lipstick Chicks pick, will get an Honorable Mention. This should eliminate any concerns for a popularity contest. Thank you to everyone who has been scraplifting us! We are SO delighted each and every time to see your scraplift creations.
Here is a picture of the prize!

1967 or 1968- Sweet Dreams

This is me and my twin sister! I am the one who is sucking her thumb. I made this layout for Challenge 4 over at Sketches in Thyme. It also fit Lacee's July challenge on the Pages in Time forum.  NOTE:  I got the papers from a kit I had won from The Treasure Box Club on Sketchbook Inspirations.

Love Bug

I made this for Color Throwdown! Simple--not lopsided in real life! :-)

Red White and Blue Birthday Card

I made this card for our nephew's birthday! I made it for
Frosted Design's weekly challenge said to use Stars and Stripes, and red, white and blue!  I put foam tape under the larger RED star and put glitter on all of the stars! I am also entering it in the Really Reasonable Ribbon patriotic challenge.

Tree Card

Made this card with Nikki Sivil's My Sweet Cherry Pie! It fits the Scrapfit challenge to hand-make one or more embellishments. I made the little flower in the corner.

Slow Down Everybody, You're Moving too Fast

Here's a cute little card I did a while back.  I thought you might enjoy it!

2010 Mammoth Spring

I made this monochromatic layout based on Sketch Inspiration's #130.  I'm also entering it in the Blue Moon Scrapbooking contest for July!!!  I used some Basic Grey, Fancy Pants rub-ons, die-cut letters from Cricut (Life is a Beach), fish die-cut from Sizzix.  (NOTE: die cut the fish from white paper to which I had previously applied inks in blues and greens and silver.)

At the Beach

Here is a fun card I created a while back. It was from a sketch but I shamefully do not remember where I got it. So, whoever created it, thanks!
