Snow days

I made another Echo Park layout! This time it is for The Last April Sketch hosted by Sweet Peach Crop Shop! I really liked Liz Chidester's sketch this time!  I was tickled to make my own felt/denim/button/twine embellies for this!!!  I also added liquid glass to the red/letter part of the banner. As usual, my layout looks better in person!!! But, I hope you enjoy it! I thought it turned out pretty well... :-)

Thanks so much for looking at my blog! If you have time, please leave me a comment so I know you were here!
Hope you have a great weekend!!!

Memphis

I made this for Sketch Inspiration's weekly challenge #217!  The shimmery, gray background paper has been sanded and is DCWV.  The other paper came from a tablet--I believe it is Autumn Leaves.  The jeweled guitar is Prima!

Mitch's First Job - Gerbes

I created this layout of Mitch's first job at the local grocery store--Gerbes using this fun  #116 sketch from Liz Chidester over at The Scrappiest!  I used a couple of different collections from Cosmo Cricket!  The gold coins came from a gimmick at a local car dealership to get people in to look at their cars.  I guess my photograph is a little wonky, but I think you get the idea. It is straight in real life!

Kaleidoscope?!!!!

Oil Cell Kaleidoscope - Spectraply

Look what my husband is up to now??? He's also in the process of making some very cool teleidoscopes!  I love these, because anything you look at becomes a very cool image!!!!!! I hope he finishes one soon!!!! I want one myself!!!!

Ginny's 60th Birthday with Steve

I created this layout showing a table and bowl that Steve made for his mom for her 60th birthday last year!  I used the lovely #117 sketch from Liz Chidester over at The Scrappiest!  The "You are Special" tag came from a box of chipboard I had.

San Francisco - 2009

I used Crate Paper's Pink Plum to create this for Simon Says Stamp Blog's anything goes challenge using a wonderful sketch by Liz Chidester for Sweet Peach Crop Shop's Anniversary Sketch Challenge #3.  I really love how this turned out!

My Sweet Little, Silly Boy!

I was inspired by Mindy Pitcher's layout over at CK and am entering it into Simon Says Stamp and Show Some Buttons! challenge.  If you look closely at all of the Echo Park squares, you will see that I added buttons on every one!  I think you can tell that I used Echo Park's Little Boy collection! I also did a little recycling for this layout!  The blue circle under the polka-dot button on the right bottom square is from a pair of my husband's jeans!!  In fact, look at all these polka dots!  This definitely qualifies for The Paper Variety's challenge this week!   You can pull on the little red tab above the photo mat to see some hidden journaling about the photo!

By the way, this was in 1998 (which is noted in the journaling that you can't see)! My little boy is now 17...

My Niece's Prom from 2010, too! :-)

I made this from a sketch from the The Sweet Peach Crop Shop!  I used Sassafras Las' Sweetly Smitten collection.  I thought the butterflies were a lot of fun on this!  I also entered this on Sketches 4 All.  My friend Stacy sent me the Sweetly Smitten!

My Niece's Prom

I love this Crate Paper collection even though it's an older one--Sweet Branch! I thought the colors were perfect with my niece's dress and her friend's tie!  I got the paper and ribbon from my friend Stacy! Thanks again, Stacy! The only other thing I added were some jewels to the butterfly and big flower!  I used a sketch from The Sweet Peach Crop Shop!

I must be in love with this stamp!

I made this card with my favorite stamp from Hero Arts. It is for the CPS Card Sketch Challenge #114.  The little yellow American Crafts flowers are flocked.  I used a puffy marker for the yellow flower centers in the basket! The sticker is SRM Stickers!  PP is Pebbles!

Thanks for looking!

I've been trying to work on layouts, but this apparently was all I had in me today!

Resilience

This is a doozy! I don't normally pour out my soul so heavily in public! I made this layout in response to a prompt by Scrapbooking from the Inside Out!  I used Sketch #114 from The Scrappiest.  After seeing the prompt from SFTIO and a prompt to use a number from The Paper Variety, I felt this overwhelming urge to make the layout about my feelings about lupus (and my other diseases) which I have had for over 20 years (which is the number for TPV)!  It is reflected in the title of my layout as well as in my journaling. I have included photos which show the Title, the journaling strips and the actual journaling if you care to read them. You might have to enlarge the bottom one even more to be able to read it! I printed out my journaling and title in three different fonts and then sprayed the paper with some Mister Huey's Color Mist in Orchard. Somehow it represented pain to me! The butterflies represent my good days and the fragility of life all at the same time.  I love the Prima that I used also! It just seemed to fit.

Our Weekend was full of ups and downs

We attended the internment of our nephew Alex Saturday morning.  It was tough for everyone.  It was exactly two months after his tragic death!   Later that afternoon, though, we attended the wedding of one of my husband's cousins! We experienced a roller coaster of emotions that day! I thought I would share the "cake" and the table arrangements from the wedding. I was lucky because I got to bring one of the arrangements home! The bride's mother (Steve's aunt) is a florist! All of the flowers are real except the Gerbera Daisy (which will make it so easy to make a scrapbook page later--I can also use some of the green polka dot ribbon for it)! :-)

Someone Special

This is for the Crafter's Companion USA's April challenge - Flowers.  The stamp is Someone Special.

Cheerful Card

I love this image from Hero Arts! I used it to create a card for The Paper Variety's challenge this week to include flowers! Well, I got the paper from Yara that I won during TPV's blog hop! I thought it would be fun to highlight the yellow in the paper, so I only colored in the flowers in the basket.  I'm sending this card to my husband's cousin by marriage (who I might have met only once if at all) who also has lupus, but she has it much worse than I. She's quite young and  just had a stroke! So, I thought this might cheer her up!

Some Spring Cards

I'm entering this into Simon Says Stamp and Show Some Distressing! I didn't add ink to any of the edges except that of the image--just roughed up the edges and sanded that hot pink scalloped piece!

I made these cards from sketches for two different challenges that my friend Stacy HW is hosting on Sketches 4 All.  You can find them here and here!  I'm sure she would love it if you would play along!

More Christmas 2009 - A Bittersweet Layout

This is a bittersweet layout for me because Alex (the boy in the bottom right) is no longer with us and Mitch and Haley (upper left) have broken up!! But, life goes on!

I used Sketchy Thursday's challenge sketch this week along with Crate Paper and SRM Stickers.  The cardstock is CTMH.

Thanks for visiting my blog!
Hope your day is full of happiness!

Christmas 2009

I'm still working on Christmas 2009 photos! I made this one for Scrapfit's challenge to include hand-made flowers! I mainly used Graphic 45 with the exception of the gold shimmery paper and brown mats which are DCWV. The ribbon is from CTMH and the poinsettia is from Hero Arts...

Thanks for looking! I appreciate everyone who stops by my blog! I'll know you were here if you leave a comment!

Have a great day!

1971 Birthday

I made this for PageMaps Scrap That! blog hop and layout contest, but there is a twist! I also entered it in my friend Stacy's Mix It Up challenge in which you were very limited to what you could include on your layout.

Here is what Stacy had to say:

"And here is the tricky part....these are the only basics that you can use on every lo you make:

Paper, Photos, Adhesive, Black Pen and A Shape Punch.

I had my lovely assistant draw 4 other things from the hat that you MUST USE ON YOUR LAYOUT.

Here they are...
Buttons
A Quote
Bling
Stickles (or a glitter type product)"

Mitch in Santa Hat--2009

I made this for Artful Delight's April Challenge!  I thought the sketch was so much fun! I used My Mind's Eye. All of the paper is glittery! The only other thing I added was twine from The Twinery and rub-ons which I believe are Doodlebug...  You ought to give this sketch a go!  Not only are LeeAnne's kits awesome, she is very generous, too! Her inspiration page is so cute!

Easter Card

I made this for the Simon Says............it's time for Spring Colours /Easter! challenge! Kathy sent me the stamp, and I immediately sat down and made 7 cards with it!!!  I just love it! I thought I'd also share it at Oh My Crafts...

BTW, if you haven't checked out Kathy's blog, I'd like to encourage you to head over there and check out a few of her posts! Her coloring is amazing, plus she's a super fantastic person!

I'm on a Sassafras Las Kick -- My Niece in 1994

Vsalmon-sketch110
I made this Spring layout with Sassafras Las's monthly challenge sketch!  The only things that are not Sassafras Las (Sweetly Smitten) are the hand-made by my friend Mary crochet flowers which go so well with the papers and dyed doily made by Marg Oliver!  I also did some hand-stitching around the rectangles and did a little doodling with a white pen around the perimeter of the layout! I love that the little banner is made up of hearts if you look closely!  I am entering this at Lasting Memories Challenge #32 - Spring Is In The Air With Artful Delight! (a new spot for me).  Spring is incorporated by adding flowers and Julie is a Spring baby so the one year birthday picture and other photos count! I thought this turned out pretty cute! I incorporated the white flowers for The Paper Variety's April Showers Bring May Flowers :) challenge.

Circa 1970 - Play

This layout is for Sketchy Thursday's challenge this week! I loved the sketch. I received the Amplify collection (along with some other fantastic Sassafras Las stuff)  from Brianne over at Scrapstreet a while back. The patterns are so busy in this collection, so I was just waiting for the right photos and sketch to use it! I found them and it!   I used so many hearts from the collection to represent the love of a father for his son!!!  I added some Huey Mist that I received from Kim recently!!! I love it!  Thanks so much for sending it, Kim!  The only other things I added were two buttons from my stash, one metal piece and one piece of chipboard (sprayed with the Huey Mist) from CTMH. I also plan to enter it into Simon Says Stamp and Show Anything But a Card!

Fall Photos in the Spring

Well, that is pretty much me. I'm always a day late and a dollar short! Anyway, I made this for my Friend Stacy's challenge this week.  If you want to enter, hurry because today is the last day! It is from a sketch.

Supplies:
Me & My Big Ideas
Bella Blvd.
Scenic Route:  chipboard saying
Other: Spellbinders, Zap dots by Helmar

By the way, if you want to be amazed by a wonderful card artist, please stop by The Daily Marker.  Not only is Kathy an amazing artist, she is a wonderful person! She sent me the most beautiful card to cheer me up along with a cute Penny Black stamp.  If you do visit her blog, will you please say Kelly Massman sent me!? Thanks!
