More Memphis Zoo Photos

Here's a simple layout from the Memphis Zoo. It seemed rather cruel to have these particular animals facing each other from across the path!  The cat kept pacing trying to figure out a way to get to the poor little guy--and you can see the look on the little guy's face. The photos tell it all!  I think I'm completely finished with our Memphis trip now, but I still have a few layouts to post on the blog.  The little wooden flower button is Studio Calico. Isn't it cute? I also tried my first Gluber from Cosmo Cricket. It is the ribbon flower with the big yellow button. I got to make it at Archiver's over the NSD weekend...

This is Actually Me - Can you tell?

I made this using Sketch Inspiration 221 (?)! My friend Stacy sent me the Imaginisce Roly rosies and tool to make these flowers lickety-split! I love making these flowers anyway, and this tool and precut spirals make it so fun to do! I love the Cosmo Cricket Odds & Ends collection. I got it from here! Thanks!

Thanks for visiting!
I've said a prayer for all of those military who are serving us now and in the past! I hope you will pause to think about them, too!

Read to Me, Gramma Ginny

My friend Stacy HW has a challenge over at Sketches 4 All where you could only/and must use stamps, bling, border punch, and vellum (other than Paper, Photos, Adhesive, Black Pen and A Shape Punch).   If you have time before the end of May, I'd like to encourage you to check out some of Stacy's Mix It Up challenges. She makes them very fun, and if you win, she will send you an AWESOME prize!!!! I should know--I've won enough of them!!! I used mostly Glitz Design with a little CTMH stamping thrown in so I could enter it into a Paper Secrets challenge, too.

Embarrassing Photos Show What Kind of Friendship We Have

I used Crate Paper's sketch to make this!
All is Crate Paper except for the Thickers letters, the ink which is SEI (I inked up some punched images for the butterflies), and the trim. I also used an EK Success border punch!

Happy Birthday in Denim and Stars

Here's a card I did for The Paper Variety's Star Studded Challenge!!  I made it out of felt, denim, a button and twine.  The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink. Simple, but still cute, I thought... I'm also entering it at a new place (to me):  Scrappy Frogs Challenge.

Thanks for visiting! Have a great day!

Memphis Zoo-March 2010

I had fun using Sketch Inspiration #220 to make this Simon Says ,,,,, Sparkle and Shine :-) layout with Echo Park.  I sprayed the paper with Tattered Angels and Studio Calico's Mr. Huey Mist. I also used some American Craft crochet flowers that just match the paper perfectly!!!! The small letters are Kaisercraft! I entered this at Sketches 4 All. That is wear I got the "strolling through the park" idea... :-)

Don't forget to check out the winner of my blog candy...

Thanks for visiting my blog today! Please leave a comment if you have a chance--it means a lot to me! :-)
Have a great day!

Teddy Bear Hugs

I made this for the Moxie Fab World The Chevron Chic Challenge! I used three papers with the chevron design (the bear itself, the black and the green background)! The bear is a CTMH stamp, and I fussy cut it. I zap dotted (Helmar) the MME scalloped square piece. I also entered this at Sketches 4 All.

Lucky Me

I wanted to show you a couple of things that were sent to me as giveaways! First up, is this adorable little crayon holder made by Erin Roth.   If you need a fun hand-made gift, check out her shop. I love Etsy things--I guess I'm partial because of my husband's shop! Thanks again Erin--and thanks for finding the froggie cloth and making one special for me!!!

Second, is this great magnet frame sent to me by Michelle from Everyday Me. I had been wanting to get a frame for my fridge, and I was so excited to win! If you need one, you might check out her shop.  Michelle was so generous and even added some embellishment goodies, too, and she made a gorgeous butterfly card for me, too!!! Thanks again!!!! I love it!

Old Wives Tale - Butterflies

Did you know that there is an Old Wives Tale that three butterflies together mean good luck?  When I saw

Simon Says Stamp and Show an Old Wive's Tale!, I was curious to find a fun tale using butterflies! This is what I made based on the tale.  Anyway, I used a sketch I found on Stacy HW's challenge at Sketches 4 All, and I used Doris' idea of have three ribbons/trims, using at least one in an unusual way! How fun! I doubled stamped the butterfly-first with Jenni Bowlin yellow paint and then with some CTMH Hollyhock ink.  The three trims/ribbons:  1) yellow at bottom, Crate Paper; 2) unusual way 1:  butterfly antennae, Crate Paper; and 3) unusual way 2:  made a ribbon flower.

Thanks so much for visiting my blog today! Please leave a comment to let me know you were here!!!
Thanks, and have a great day!

Easter - 1998

I made this for Sketchy Thursday's latest challenge!  I used the right half of the sketch!  I also entered this at Sketches 4 All.  One girl challenged us to use at least 5 patterned papers, 5 different fonts and 5 buttons! I couldn't believe that I could do it, but I did.  Another suggested using only pink, green, and white (with a little neutral thrown in).  She also asked for 2 chipboard elements and 2 rub-ons. I did that, too!

Father's Day Card - with a little Texture!

I figured I could work one of my favorite stamps from Hero Arts into this Father's Day card. I used Adirondack paint daubers to ink up the stamp--that is why it has an unusual look. The card looks a little bland in the photo but has a lot of embossing and texture in real life! I used CPS 218 sketch to make it and am entering it into Simply Sunday Challenge and at Sketches 4 All.

Our Wedding

I made this using a PageMaps sketch found at Sketches 4 All for Scrapfit's Only You challenge.  It also fits The Paper Variety's week 33 big screen! challenge.  I really like the movie of the same name: Only You with Marisa Tomei and Robert Downey Jr.

This Was a Difficult Layout for Me to Do

I made this layout for PageMaps.  We just lost our nephew Alex tragically on February 16.  I felt like I needed to do this layout, but it was really hard!  I'm also entering this in Scrapfit's challenge to stand by your man! This is about as masculine as I get...  I also entered this at Sketches 4 All.

Baby Card with Graphic 45

I was super thrilled to see that I had won an 8 x 8 paper pack from Graphic 45 recently!! Thanks for sending it out!  Once Upon a Springtime is my favorite collection of theirs!!!! I was also excited to see the Simon Says - Look What The Stork Brought ! challenge!  The flower is Prima. I made a banner from a Studio Calico stamp and cut some of the excess off of some Kaisercraft letters. I also added a little pink semi-circle at the top of the banner.  I'm actually proud of this card. I usually don't like making cards and am horrible at it!!  I also entered this card at Sketches 4 All...

Got Crafty again

I used Sketch Inspiration 219 to make this layout for Studio Calico's challenges to use 4 or more photos and the colors of aqua, tangerine, lime and kraft ! I used patterned paper as a background as suggested by Shimelle during NSD.   Sketches 4 All as usual provided some inspiration as well.  Thanks to Doris Widder for the letters and ribbon (she was so sweet to send me a "consolation" prize when she had a HUGE RAK going on over on her blog!!!  She does some fabulous work.  Go tell her Kelly M sent you if you'd like to visit her!

Patterned paper:  orange and green, Pebbles; blue, Studio Calico
Rub-ons: Studio Calico
Chipboard, flowers, brads:  CTMH
Ink:  CTMH, Distress Ink (Ranger)
Letters and ribbon:  Making Memories
Kraft paper:  stash

Thank You Card

I made this for  Moxie Fab World's Tuesday Trigger: Skirting the Issue challenge! Also Simon Says Stamp and Show Anything Goes!
I think you can see where I got the idea to use this paper! I'm also entering this into a challenge at Sketches 4 All!

A Little Dirt Never Hurt

OMG! I couldn't believe it when I saw The Paper Variety's challenge this week to get messy (with sprays/masks etc.).  I had used a mask to make this layout, and I decided to flip it over onto the green DCWV  paper I used for this cute page of my son in 1998.  It turned out a little messy, but it is so perfect for these photos!!!!!   My son still gives me "the look" that he was giving me in the top picture, but it doesn't look as cute with a real beard!! :-)  Anyway, you can imagine my delight when I saw the challenge.  I also thought Sketchy Thursday's challenge this week would work well for this, too!  Echo Park's Little Boy paper just kind of set it off.  You can see such a Little Boy in the layout and photos!!! As you can tell, I was much more in my comfort zone with this than the one I posted of Steve and my wedding the other day!!!

I ran out of time to do anything else this week.  All I had to do with this one was glue down everything and photograph it!!! Otherwise, I wouldn't even be posting this today!

Thanks for visiting!  Have a great weekend!!!

Back in October of 1999

Back in October of 1999, Steve and I got married! This was way before we got a digital camera! I don't miss my old camera at all!! Anyway, I was inspired by two challenges for this one!  I'm out of my comfort zone for both of them. I created the background by using a 12 x 12 mask.  First, I daubed some silver Adirondack paint on a few of the circles and the center "flower" and then sprayed the whole thing with some Tattered Angels mist.  This took care of the Ella Publishing company Spring Training Day 8 challenge to make your own custom-designed background.  The colors and everything else were part of a challenge (new to me) called Creative Prompts, and their Challenge # 63: Mysterious Glamour was to use this picture as inspiration!  It looks like it fits Lasting Memories latest challenge, too!! (It's all about you.)   So, I'm entering it there also!!! :-)

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day fit really well with Simon Says Stamp's challenge to Show Some Hands. I chose to show gardening hands.  I stamped the CTMH image on vellum, colored it and then fussy cut it and applied it to some Pebbles Paper. The Happy Mother's Day stamp is also CTMH.  The ribbon is KI Memories. Oh, and I picked up those cute little pink, see-through pebbles (don't know what they are called) for $1.19 at Michael's last weekend!! Aren't they adorable?!

Have a great day!  Thanks for visiting me! It means a lot!

Comments make my day! Especially from you!!!! :-)
